Tips for monument paper

Hi everyone,

Here are a few tips for the monument paper. Firstly, it will be very important to start out by giving your own definition of what a monument is in general. This, indeed, is the goal of the assignment. The next step, then, will be to show why your example of a monument fits your definition well.

If you are feeling stuck, you might want to take a glance at next week's readings and consider questions of memory and commemoration. If you already have an idea, disregard this and go ahead with your plan!

If you will turn in your assignment next week (Week 10), feel free to email me or Christina about your ideas and we will do our best to help. Please, however, do avoid emailing the night before the assignment is due, as we cannot guarantee we'll be able to answer on time. If you will hand it in the week after (Week 11), office hours could be a productive time to talk more about your thesis and outline for the paper.
